AYURVEDA & MEDICINAL USES

Veralu fruit is rich in minerals, vitamins, fibre and valuable antioxidants. Due to its nutritional content it possesses anti-inflam matory, antibiotic, anti-anxiety,
analgesic, antidepressant and antihypertensive properties. It is used in rheumatism and as an antidote for poison.

NOTABLE FACTS

It is naturally grown in home gardens across the country. The tree usually measures from 8 to 15 metres in height and 5 to 10 metres in width. The plant is commonly grown in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. The delicate, lacy, white flowers usually attract a myriad of insect pollinators, notably flies, wasps and flower beetles. Sri Lankan ayurveda herbal shampoo and conditioners are made out of Veralu.

TRY-ME RECIPES

Veralu Achcharu / Veralu pickle: boil olives in salted water, then drain water and keep aside. next heat oil and add garlic and fry it to golden brown color. next add other ingredients and mix well for 1/2 minute, next add boiled olives and mix well.
