NOTABLE FACTS

Called Bird’s Eye Chili because of their small round shape and because they have been spread by birds, which are not affected by the heat of the peppers.

Often used as a substitute for the green chilli, but much, much spicier. Do not try to eat it raw!

Unlike other members of its family, the kochchi chilli portrays a strong smell.

TRY-ME RECIPES

To prepare a nice and spicy kochchi sambol, arm yourself with 1 cup freshly grated coconut, 3 Kochchi chillies, 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder, 1 teaspoon lime juice and salt. Grind all the ingredients together, except the lime juice. Once ground into a thin paste, add fresh lime juice and mix well. Serve with boiled manioc for a fantastic meal or snack!
